Puppet for Children’s Miracle Network

Not long ago, I was asked if I would consider donating something to an auction held locally for the Children’s Miracle Network. It’s a great cause, but not having a lot of time, I employed the good old Glorified Sock Pattern from Project Puppet and came up with this fun little orange guy. I hope he is a valuable addition to the auction.

Dragon Head

I’m nearly finished working up the head for Cory’s dragon. I chose a crushed panne fabric for the skin because it’s thin, stretchy, and with the slight sheen it reminded me of dragon scales.

Final Foam Dragon

Okay, so I realize that I said he’d look different the next time you saw him, but I wanted to show the absolutely final foam dragon. It’s now time to dye some fabric and start finishing him up.

Dragon Body

Cory Godbey Dragon

I’m nearly finished with the body of the dragon puppet for Cory Godbey.  He’s really starting to take shape.  I’ve found some great material to cover him so next time you see him, he’ll probably look much different.

Halloween Costume

This year, I thought I would apply my sewing “skillz” to making my own Halloween costume.  This was a first for me, but considering my choice of costume, I thought it would be fairly easy.  In light of the recent release of the film Where The Wild Things Are, I thought I’d try my hand at making Max’s wolf costume.  I actually finished it in a few hours and I think I might “dirty” it up a bit to look more like the one in the movie.  Below are a few photos:

As you can see, it brings out my inner Max.

The Dragon Begins…

Dragon

I’ve begun work on the Dragon puppet for Cory Godbey. The foam skull is nearly complete. It’s been exciting watching the head develop and I can’t wait to begin working on the body.  Here are a couple more images:
