Aslan Puppet
This is a puppet of the Lion, Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. He was made for a children’s event that my wife put on for a friend of ours. The theme was Narnia, and although he only made a brief cameo, I wanted Aslan to be as realistic as possible. I worked on him off and on for the last year and he was definitely a design challenge. I made a life size paw that I could put my hand into for added realism. The kids seemed to get a kick out of him (some of the little ones were afraid of him).
The fur on his face is a plush felt that was meticulously glued to the foam understructure. It took some time to locate just the right stuff for the mane, however. I looked everywhere and finally found some great fur from Mendels in California. Hopefully he will get to appear in some future Thistledown Puppets events.

Wow! Great job! Thanks for sharing.
That is amazing! I’d love to see him in action.
That is one outstanding puppet.
